Arizona does not require a concealed carry permit for any individual over the age of 21. Furthermore, any person over the age of 19 who can prove they have served, or are currently serving, honorably in the United States Armed Services is eligible to apply for a concealed permit from Arizona. Arizona offers concealed carry permits to both residents and non-residents to allow for reciprocity with other states.

Applications should be directed to the Department of Public Safety. A fee of $60 is required for a new concealed permit, and requires 60 days processing time and up to 15 working days to issue a permit. Competency training is required to obtain a concealed permit and any method must be approved by the Department of Public Safety. A license is valid for up to 5 years, and resident permits are accepted by 36 other states.

What are the accepted forms of competency training?
Arizona requires proof of competency to issue a concealed carry permit. The following are a list of accepted forms of education:

 

  • Any firearms safety or training course or class that is available to the general public
  • Hunter education or hunter safety course
  • NRA firearms safety course
  • Law enforcement firearms safety
